This is a loving riff on the old Lucha Libre films. Animated in the Style of Mucha Lucha! this film centers on an American Masked Wrestler, the Professional, and a second generation tecnico Dragon Rojas Jr. both of whom are seeking to make their mark in the wrestling world. Upon hearing about a Village in Trouble, they recruit Tsetse Fly (a mini-Luchador), Supresa (a luchadora), and Rey X (the Ace) to help them in a fight against Los X-tremos who are threatening a village.This also interweaves a tale of legends and the legacy they leave behind in a changing landscape.It is great fun, with stylized visuals, humor, and even a touch of pathos (but not too much), as it defines what Tecnicos, Rudos, and Lucha Libre is all about. In short, it is a film well worth watching.
