This review is for the item pictured, 1992 recording conducted by Daniel Barenboim. The other reviews for this item are for a completely different recording of the Ring. That said, there is no perfect Ring but Maestro Barenboim pegs a home run with this magnificent production. The sound is simply outstanding. Spacious, clear, well miked to where it doesn't get any better to my ears. The glorious orchestra gives all there is to give in perfect tempo. This ranks right up there with Solti's vaunted classic. The singers are mostly satisfying, though probably not the best cast but then I doubt there is such a thing. Please note this is a 'live recording' that was done at the same time the video of the epic was done which can be found on DVD and Blu Ray. There is NO live public audience. There is some stage noise which you would hear if you were present at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus and only ads to the drama taking place. It is not intrusive and you fall right into the performance from the first low flowing notes until the final fading note of Gotterdammerung. This version may not be so easily found now but it's a bargain if you can. I can't recommend this edition enough and it holds a proud place in my CD case with my many other recordings of Wagner's finest masterpiece.
