This fragrance is NOT like those embarrassing musky, heavy colognes of the 90's or the stinky AXE-like scents the Gen-Z's spray all over themselves. Wearing heavy colognes like that is embarrassing. EVERYONE smells you coming a mile away. It's like you're trying too hard. Gendarme is completely different. It's fresh, light and clean smelling. Not even like a cologne. It's totally different. My girlfriend says it's like freshly washed sheets with a summer vibe. People won't think your wearing a cologne, they'll just think you smell good and clean. It lasts and doesn't stain or spot clothing. I've had people actually stop me to say I smell good. Absolute best smelling fragrance I've ever had.I’ve been using this cologne since the 1990’s, and it’s the best scent ever❤️In my opinion, it's the best cologne ever. I just wish it was cheaper, $85 is a bit costly.Light, subtle, not overpowering. Been purchasing this for years, smells wonderful on my guy. He's one of those men who applies fragrance daily after his shower, even if he's not going anywhere. This light scent is wonderful; a clean, fresh out of the shower smell. The only drawbacks, (and reason for the 4 stars; it's SUPER EXPENSIVE and HARD TO FIND.It lasts all day. It is truly one of those scents that smells different on your skin than out of the bottle. (All of my friends disliked the smell in the bottle. When I spray it on and wear it throughout the day, they can't stop asking me to tell them what scent I'm wearing so they can go get a bottle).It smells 'clean', like you're freshly showered. It has a light citrus tone to it. It's a good spring/summer scent and it works for day and night.I gave it 3 stars instead of 5 because it left oil droplet marks on one of my dress shirts. You definitely need to spray into the air and walk into it or put it directly on your skin. Do not spray directly onto your shirt unless you've tested an inconspicuous section first. I spray it on my neck and chest in the mornings and as I get warmer throughout the day (it's Phoenix in the summer), the cologne's smell gets slightly stronger and people respond well to it. Men and women seem to like the scent.I was first introduced to Gendarme cologne maybe 25 years ago while I was wandering and window shopping at Nordstrom. This cologne is both sweet and lasting and not to mention masculine. I just love it.I like that the scent is not heavy or over powering.
