I love GALCO leather holsters! In my opinion they are as beautiful as they are practical. And, like all high quality leather goods, they get better with age. I purchased this one for a new 1911 and it fits like a glove!Every time I aquire a new handgun, I toy with the idea of ordering a leather holster from one of the custom holster makers. Their work is highly regarded and highly sought after, which has resulted in waits up to 6 months! So, I end up ordering another GALCO leather holster and I must admit, I'm never disappointed. Although I have no custom holsters, it's hard to imagine that they are better than the GALCO's.These leather holsters DO require some breaking in. GALCO has very good instructions on their website. It involves using a plastic bag over your weapon to slightly stretch the leather. And they urge you NOT TO WET THE HOLSTER. I've done their method, but I find that simply using the holster will break it in fine in a short time.One other necessity is a good quality gun belt. I DO buy custom leather gun belts, mainly because they cost about the same as the mass produced ones and the turn-around time on them is pretty quick. Plus, I like to support the little guys / craftsmen when I can.
