Bought this for a Mark lV series 70 Colt Gov't 1911. I wrapped the gun in a plastic bag and placed it in the holster for a break-in period. The gun sat in the holster for four days (I was called out of town!) before I finally removed it. The leather is very stiff, but it molded perfectly to my 1911. There are no tension screws, or retaining straps, but the holster still maintains a snug fit on the gun, and it will not come out by accident. The mouth of the holster is very stiff, so when you draw the weapon, the holster remains open for an easy one handed reholster. The muzzle end is open, however the muzzle of the gun does not stick out. It's a very nice fit.The holster is very easily concealable with just an untucked shirt over it, as it keeps the gun tight against your body. I've been wearing a tucked in T-shirt so the gun doesn't rub on my side, then I wear an untucked shirt over everything. Very comfortable and concealable. As for the placement of the holster, I wear mine at about 3:30-4:00. I place the holster belt loops on either side of my pant belt loop to keep the holster from moving. Seems to work very well. One of my biggest concerns about this holster (or any holster for that matter) was accidentally disengaging the thumb safety with a live round in the chamber. So I wore this setup every day for a week (with an empty chamber), and did my normal activities. I never had a problem with the safety. Now it stays in condition 1, and I feel comfortable with that. This holster is also comfortable while sitting, standing, walking and driving!I've only found one flaw with this design; I do a lot of driving, and even though it's comfortable, access to my gun (should I ever need it) would be slow because of the seatbelt being in the way. So when I get into my truck, I remove the gun from the holster, and place it between the seat and console, so I have a very easy grab on it, if needed. When I get out of the truck, I simply put the gun back into the holster and go about my business. I'm always wearing a cover garment of some sort, and I've had people standing right outside my truck door, and never noticed me placing my gun back into the holster! It's amazing what you can do when you're NOT trying to hide something! What's the old saying... "hiding in plain sight!"Bottom line... for an IWB holster, buy pants that are at least one (1) size too big, get a good gun belt to hold the weight, always wear a cover garment... and enjoy! This Galco Summer Comfort is well worth the investment for a full size 1911. I like it so much, I'm considering getting one for my 4" GP100! Very nice IWB holster. Sure surprised me!My wife (who knows me better than anyone) can always tell when I'm packing my .357 because I have to wear oversized shirts to cover my inexpensive shoulder rig. Nobody else (to my knowledge) has ever noticed my .357. With this Summer Comfort IWB, she NEVER knows when I've got that big .45 on my side, cause I wear normal sized shirts and/or jackets! Amazing!
